What does move-out cleaning cost?
The price depends on four things. Here is what affects it, what should be included, and how to compare quotes so you do not get a bill afterwards.

What decides the price
If you ask three companies, you often get three very different numbers. The difference almost always comes down to the same four things.
- The size of the home. More square metres means more hours. It is the most important factor, which is why serious companies always ask about it first.
- The condition of the home. Grease in the oven and cooker hood, limescale in the bathroom and nicotine on the walls take longer. A proper company tells you before it starts, not afterwards.
- What is included. Some include the oven, cupboards inside and windows in the price. Others charge extra for each item, so the cheapest price ends up the most expensive.
- Fixed price or hourly rate. With an hourly rate you only know the bill when the work is done. With a fixed price you know it in advance.
What the price should include
The landlord checks the same places at the move-out inspection. If they are not included in the price, those are the ones you end up paying extra for, or the ones that end up in the move-out report.

How to compare quotes
- Get a fixed price in writing. A number in a text or email is easier to hold on to than a price said over the phone.
- Ask what is not included. Balcony, garage, basement storage and outside windows are often not included. Better to know beforehand.
- Ask about extra charges. Is there anything extra for products, travel or extra time if the home is dirty?
- Ask what happens at the inspection. Does the company come back if the landlord does not approve the cleaning, and does it cost anything?
